Yup. It's gotta be so hard to teach that if the puck crosses the goal line and we have it on video, it's a goal. Probably takes years of experience to make that "judgement" call. They then take the best of those officials and give them jobs in Toronto's video review HQ. Only the cream of the crop there.

Maybe the problem isn't with the teaching, guidance and leadership issues in officiating, it's the hiring process and checking that all officials are actually, you know... sighted.

I understand the blind need jobs too, but maybe this isn't a wise career choice for them. Maybe something like working for the Department of Player Safety is a better calling for the visually disabled?
